The Ariegeois is a breed of dog specifically a French pack-hunting scenthound developed late in the last century. It is distinguished by its friendly nature with other hounds and affection for human companions. This breed originated in France in 1912 making it a fairly new breed. It is not yet well known outside of its own region. The breed is registered with the FCI. Ariegeois normally weigh 63-70 lbs and are 24 to 27 inches tall. Their coat is smooth and short.
